Quality improvement (QI) is an area of increasing focus and scrutiny in medicine.  The Institute of Medicine has identified six areas for improvement in the delivery of medical care: safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, timeliness, efficiency, and equity (for details click here1). At University of Michigan, quality and safety measures are made publically available for a variety of medical and surgical treatments. Researchers at Kellogg are taking a leading role in using innovative methods to improve the quality of care delivered to our patients every day.
